Forest School on Orcas

A new program is in the works to hatch this September on Orcas Island. In honor of the beauty and fragility of the Pacific Northwest, and the San Juans in particular, the Orcas Island Forest School intends to open this September 14^th for the 2015-2016 school year five days a week from 8:30 to noon.

Modeled on the German-based Waldkinergarten, the school will be held on private property near Eastsound and provide an opportunity for all-outdoor, nature-based learning for young children. Concerned about the increasingly technological culture in which your children will be raised? If so, the Orcas Island Forest School is dedicated to providing a “play-based, all-weather, outdoor early childhood education program that fosters an intimate connection to the natural world…”
