With the spattering of clear, sunny winter days we’ve been enjoying, there is no better way to enjoy the beauty of the San Juan Islands than through an invigorating hike and a great view.

Views to the southeast toward Anacortes

A hidden gem, the hike up Mount Entrance begins on the east side of the island adjacent to the Olga Artworks building. Hiking up the west-facing hillside brings views of San Juan Islands to the south and, climbing higher, to the interior of Eastsound.

Views to the southwest

Reaching the top brings views for about 270 degrees, from Mount Baker to the east, to Anacortes and the San Juans to the south, to the west side of Orcas and Eastsound to the west. It’s worth the long trek for this incredible view.
