Last Saturday celebrated yet another summer solstice on
Orcas Island. Locals go all-out for this summertime celebration, which
commemorates the longest day of the year and the first day of summer, as well
as the elevated numbers of visitors to the islands.
The earthball made its usual appearance on the backs of
youngsters.

The earthball is a feature of almost every Orcas parade |
The girls on stilts are also a traditional part of an Orcas
parade.

Daisy stilts |
Although the pet parade already happened this year, animals
are welcome in the colorful line-up, whether in costume or not.
|
Furry companions are always welcome |
