Indian Island Preserve in East Sound

I bet it’s been awhile since you’ve made the hike out to Indian Island if you’re local to Orcas, and maybe have still never been if you’re just visiting! Well, now is the perfect time to set aside some afternoon and bring out a picnic or just roll up your pants and wade out to explore this nature preserve that many of us drive by every day without noticing. 

The preserve is also scheduled for maintenance this year by the newly created Orcas Youth Conservation Corps, which will be working on ridding the island of invasive species, a project in conjunction with Kwiaht Labs on Lopez Island.
