Newly Constructed Library Wing
The Orcas Island Library has been a centerpiece of the community since 1956, providing a place to learn, meet, studying, relax, discuss, and much more. It features more than 45,000 items and offers 250 classes and events every year. As its collection and the number of people that use it grew, the library finally reached a point where it needed to expand. On June 23rd the Henigson Wing opened with a vast number of islanders coming out to celebrate and tour the new space. This means more room for laptops, computers, books, meeting rooms, and personal reading and studying. It is exciting to see the community grow and with it the wonderful resources, such as the library, that Orcas has to offer.
