New Sushi Restaurant Opening in Eastsound!

May 16, 2014

It might be a surprise to most tourists visiting Orcas Island, surrounded by the Puget Sound and all its bounty, to learn that up until this point there was not a sushi restaurant on the island. Restaurants featuring seafood, including Ship’s Bay and the West Sound Café, have been serving fresh caught crab and fish for years, but sushi has been absent from the foodie scene.

To complete the island paradise, couple Kavica and Meagan are opening a Hawaiian-style sushi restaurant on 432 North Beach Road.

Sisters Cara and Jenole serenade the opening

The opening was Thursday night, featuring sisters Cara and Jenole Peacock for musical accompaniment.

Flyin’ Hawaiian Sushi is scheduled to open shortly and will be quite the addition to the excellent array of restaurants that call Orcas Island home. The locals are excited!
